A Final Word on Autobiography

Writing, I think, is not apart from living. Writing is a kind of double living. The writer experiences everything twice. Once in reality and once in that mirror which waits always before or behind.
~Catherine Drinker Bowen
Storytelling reveals meaning without committing the error of defining it.
~Hannah Arendt

My final thoughts....
The pen can always reclaim the past. My stories recaptured a time long gone – a time filled with innocence, happiness, sadness, and lots of love. There are no ‘rights or wrongs’ for my story is mine alone. No one can tell it better than me.

Write your final reflection!

Family Proverbs

Proverbs are popular sayings which contain advice or state a generally accepted truth. They function as “folk wisdom” about how to act and live. Proverbs are used to support arguments, to provide lessons and instruction, and to stress shared values.

What nugget of wisdom did your folks pass down to you?

Where I'm From...

When you write "Where I'm From" poems from a personal perspective, you can articulate and appreciate what is special about your cultural background. This activity builds community and integrates your home lives and individual voices into our digital classroom.

I’m from the sandy coastlines of southeast Georgia
Where the sunset kisses the Atlantic goodnight
And the moon rocks the tide back and forth.

I’m from fishermen casting probing nets in search of the ocean’s bounty
And crabbers casting ensnaring baskets to trap the king blue crab.

I’m from oyster beds that cut bare feet
And tangled fishing lines that snap at the jerk of a big one.

Where are you from?

Hello and Welcome to Our Blog!

I am Mrs. Mills, a digital immigrant, constantly morphing into a digital native like you. It is a continuous morphing that evolves everyday right along with my understanding of the changing nature of 21st century literacy. I will be sharing with you a 21st century classroom wired with twenty-eight wireless laptops, Web 2.0 technologies, and a Smart Board. I am only the facilitator of this portal; you will be the constructors of your own knowledge via rigorous and relevant student-centered activities.
I am waiting for you.
Surprise me. Amaze me. Startle me. Challenge me.
Try me. Laugh with me.
Love me.
Teach me in "the key of life,"
And I promise,
I'll surprise, amaze, startle, challenge, try,
Enjoy and love YOU!
