Writing, I think, is not apart from living. Writing is a kind of double living. The writer experiences everything twice. Once in reality and once in that mirror which waits always before or behind.
~Catherine Drinker Bowen
Storytelling reveals meaning without committing the error of defining it.
~Hannah Arendt
My final thoughts....
The pen can always reclaim the past. My stories recaptured a time long gone – a time filled with innocence, happiness, sadness, and lots of love. There are no ‘rights or wrongs’ for my story is mine alone. No one can tell it better than me.
Write your final reflection!

"Being an author is like having angels whisper in your ear-and devils, too. Graycie Harmon
ReplyDeleteAs for me, while writing all of my pieces, I let my whole life shine through. I found out the good, the bad, and the worst about myself during this experience. I was able to odiscover myself in ways that I never would have done otherwise. I think this experience has taught me how to look within myself, and give thanks for even the simplest things that I have.
"A great writer reveals the truth even when he or she does no wish to."- Tom Bissell.
ReplyDeleteDuring this writing unit I actually got the oppurtunity to learn about myself and teach others about myself as well.I was able to take a look back at the past and tell my story. I wrote about the good moments and the bad ones, but no matter what I wrote it was always about my life. This experiance gave me confidence in writing about my personal experiances.
Your storytelling reveals your emotions and your ability to accomplish.

My writing doesn't come from thinking. It is memories or adventures that come to mind.I like to make sure that the reader will be engaged in my story. The writings can be persuasive, narrative, or expository. No one can tell you that your stories are too much or too little, they are you.
A word is not the some with one writer as with another. One tears it from guts. The other pulls it out of his overcoat pocket. Charles Peguy
ReplyDeleteWriting on pieces of paper makes me feel good. I get to put my thoughts on paper and make my thoughts a story. When I write a story on a piece of paper it makes my mind open up. Writing takes a lot of stress off my mind. Writing things can be very exciting. I have learned things while I was writing pieces. Writing pieces brings me comfort and clear mind.
I'm not a very good writer, but I'm an excellent rewriter. ~James Michener
ReplyDeleteTo me this means that I don't have to be a good writer to go back and check my pieces from the past.

When I write I try to let the reader know how I felt or how the character felt at this point of time.
When I put my thoughts on paper it makes me feel good inside, and it makes me feel like the world knows my story.
When I write stories it feels me with pride and joy to see other people enjoying them.
It is necessary to write, if the days are not to slip emptily by. How else, indeed, to clap the net over the butterfly of the moment? For the moment passes, it is forgotten; the mood is gone; life itself is gone. That is where the writer scores over his fellows: he catches the changes of his mind on the hop. ~Vita Sackville-West
ReplyDeleteWriting has made me express my emotions without verbal words. I've learned to use a certain communication that is similar to sound language. Writing on the topics about our own lives has helped me dig deep within to find out more about me. I'm glad I got the opportunity to share my good and bad experinces that is apart of my life.
Those who do not have power over the story that dominates their lives, the power to retell it, rethink it, deconstruct it, joke about it, and change it as times change, truly are powerless, because they cannot think new thoughts.
ReplyDelete-Salman Rushdie
When I write stories, I like to think about what I'm going to write before I write it down. My thoughts give me the power to imagine great things and ideas. When I write stories, it helps me to express the way I feel, good or bad. If I am feeling bad one day, I will write a story about the way I feel and will include jokes to make me laugh. No matter how a person is feeling on a certain day, telling a funny joke or story is a great way to make you feel better.
There are two kinds of writer: those that make you think, and those that make you wonder.

Have something to say, and say it as clearly as you can. That is the only secret.
- Matthew Arnold
"writing these pieces in class this year has given me a totally new perspective on how to write, but I also learned to always keep your own style of writing by not relying on formats of how to write be creative , I mean you could use a format to help get started to trigger that creative thing that doesn't always stay on the automatic switch"

Everything in life is writable if you have the guts to do it, and the imagination to manage it. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt. Writing is a journey you have to take. It can take you to a place that has no date. It has an unlimited amount of thinking. A place you will never get board. Writing is like entire new world you can create. So I took the opportunity to create one.
